Kimberly Reed’s Dark Money was an award-winning selection at the Sundance Film Festival, then promptly named one of Vogue’s “66 Best Documentaries of All Time,” shortlisted for an Oscar, nominated as Best Documentary by IDA and for four Critics’ Choice Awards, and won the duPont Columbia Prize for Broadcast Journalism. Her trailblazing film Prodigal Sons premiered at Telluride, won 14 international awards, and was the first documentary by a transgender filmmaker theatrically released in the US. She directed episode two, ‘Transgender Pioneers”, of Equal for HBO MAX. Kim was the EP of the award-winning 2020 HBO documentary Transhood. She also produced/edited/wrote Paul Goodman Changed My Life (Zeitgeist Films) and was an early producer of The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson (Netflix). Kim has been honored as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film,” Out Magazine’s “Out 100,” and a distinguished Chicken & Egg Award recipient. A frequent juror (Sundance, DOCNYC), lecturer (Harvard, Columbia, NYU), and speaker (Moth Radio Hour), she is a member of AMPAS.
