This year’s 35 short films transport us across continents and cultures, illuminating stories that are deeply human and universally resonant.

From a Japanese indigo dye shop in search of the perfect shade of blue to a cemetery in China, where students bury the ashes of unknown strangers; from a once-sacred site in Turkey now overrun with tourists to a rural town in Venezuela where a community searches for a missing donkey. From far-flung corners of the globe to communities across the United States, we visit roller rinks, arthouse cinemas, and countless places in between. Each film offers a vivid glimpse into a specific place, while revealing something essential about the human condition.
