Aneri Pattani is a senior correspondent at KFF Health News, a national nonprofit outlet covering U.S. health care and health policy. Pattani reports on a range of public health topics, with a focus on mental health, suicide, and substance use. For more than a year, she’s produced a series of text and audio stories about how state and local governments are spending their opioid settlement funds. The series was featured on an episode of Last Week Tonight with Oliver and won second place in the National Headliner Awards for health reporting. Pattani recently completed her masters in public health as a Bloomberg fellow at Johns Hopkins University, where she developed a course to teach journalists how to responsibly report on suicide.
