A deeply immersive and urgent film, Antidote reveals the high cost of challenging Vladimir Putin’s malevolent regime and exposing the truth about modern Russia. The documentary follows several individuals: a whistleblower from within Russia’s poison program who embarks on a near-impossible escape after discovering the true intentions behind Putin’s poison plots; a prominent political activist who miraculously survives two poisonings only to face trial for treason in a corrupt court; and an investigative journalist who exposes Putin’s assassination operations, forced into exile as his family faces escalating threats to their safety back home. Antidote sheds light on the extraordinary dangers these whistleblowers and journalists face when they dare to confront Putin’s perpetual authority and repressive machinery.

James Jones is an Emmy-winning British director who makes documentary films for international television and theatrical release. His documentaries tell extraordinary human stories from all over the world. The films combine journalistic rigor with a distinctive cinematic sensibility. James is a Russian speaker with a longstanding interest in Russia. He recently made the BAFTA and Cinema Eye-winning film Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes. His series Wanted: The Escape of Carlos Ghosn aired on Apple TV last year.
