Ticket and Pass FAQ
A Festival pass and tickets are both ways to gain access to films being screened at DC/DOX, but there are some key differences between the two. A film pass allows the holder to attend any film screening or event, subject to availability, as compared to buying individual tickets for individual screenings or events. A festival pass is ideal for someone who wants to see multiple films or attend multiple events, while tickets are best for those who only want to attend specific films or events.

A festival pass grants you priority access to all DC/DOX offerings – film screenings, panels, and Opening and Closing night parties. You are strongly encouraged to reserve your screenings in advance through the festival’s website. You can do this starting May 15. The pass does not provide access to screenings that have sold-out. Detailed instructions on how to register and utilize your pass will be emailed to you.

Festival passes can be purchased through the festival’s website in the “Attend” section, under “Tickets and Passes.”

The All Access Festival Pass includes priority access to: (1) all film screenings + post-screening discussions, including Opening, Closing, Centerpiece, and Spotlight. Note: passholders can reserve one ticket per screening, while seats are available, in any given time frame; (2) all “Reality Check” panel discussions; (3) Opening and Closing Night parties; (4) priority passholders line at all festival venues; (5) a subscription to our insider e-newsletter, so you can be first in the know on all the happenings at DC/DOX.

You are able to cancel any reservation up to 24 hours before the start of showtime, and register for anything else as long as the program is not sold out.

We strongly encourage you to reserve tickets in advance to any program you wish to attend. If you have not reserved, you can show up to the venue with your pass, and as long as the program is not sold out, you will be able to attend. The pass also provides priority on a stand-by line at sold-out screenings

We will hold “stand-by” lines at all sold-out film programs, and begin to release any available seats to the stand-by line 10 minutes before the program’s start time. Passholders have priority on the stand-by line.

The festival pass is non-transferable and is intended for the person associated with the pass.

Yes, by all means. You can purchase as many passes as you wish, and designate the passes as gifts. We will require the name and email address of your recipients.

If you lose your festival pass, contact the festival organizers immediately via email at and write “lost pass” in the subject line, or stop by the Festival’s box office and we will replace your pass for you.

You may cancel your pass for a full refund up to 72 hours before the start of the festival–Monday, June 12, 11:59pm EST–after which time passes are non-refundable.

You can pick up your pass at the DC/DOX Box Office between 9am-6pm during the festival, June 15-18. The box office is located at the Eaton Workshop, 1201 K St NW, between 12th and 13th Street, DC, 20005. You will need to provide identification.

You can pick up passes for someone else with a letter from that recipient granting you the right to do so.
