Paula Arroio is a bilingual editor based in New York City and Washington, D.C. Her life experiences have shaped her ongoing desire to use visual media to explore questions of gender, identity, and culture.
Her recent work includes serving as assistant editor to Carla Gutiérrez on her directorial debut FRIDA, which won the Jonathan Oppenheim Editing Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, as well as assistant editing Sara Maamouri’s THE SHARP EDGE OF PEACE, which premiered at the 2024 Hot Docs Film Festival. A shorter version of the film was later showcased at the United Nations.
Before moving into documentary editing, she worked as a visual journalist at a local newspaper in Jackson, Tennessee, and also spent two years in Senegal as a Peace Corps volunteer.
