Matthew Testa has worked in nonfiction film and television for more than two decades as an award-winning director, producer, showrunner, and writer, focusing on intriguing subcultures, true crime, and the relationship between people and nature. His previous work includes the feature documentary THE HUMAN ELEMENT (Apple TV+), as well as MURDER MOUNTAIN (Netflix), THE WITNESSES (Peacock), WHALE WARS (Animal Planet), SNAKE SALVATION (National Geographic), THE FIRST 48 (A&E), THE BUFFALO WAR (PBS), and VLOGUMENTARY (YouTube Premium), which premiered at Tribeca in 2016.

Upcoming projects include a feature about emerging prodigies in the world of bluegrass music and a short film about the return of silver objects confiscated from Jewish families by the Nazis. Prior to filmmaking, Testa was a newspaper reporter in Jackson, Wyoming. He holds an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory in Los Angeles.
