Konstantine Vlasis is an environmental composer, performer, and audio researcher. His projects center on the ways that sound and listening mediate experiences of changing landscapes, and how music can be a form of climate communication and environmental storytelling. As a voice in environmental sound art and composition, Vlasis has developed a praxis grounded in ecological awareness, creative approaches to audio-based research, and the efficacy of art-science collaboration. His work often amplifies pre-existing musical textures created by other-than-human entities and natural soundscapes to create environmentally conceptual and immersive pieces.
Vlasis is a visiting lecturer at Listaháskóli Íslands, a performing member of APEX Percussion, and lead sound designer for the VR/media production company Into the Blue. In recognition of his artistic and scholarly endeavors, he also maintains the titles of Leifur Eiríksson Foundation Fellow, American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellow, Fulbright-NSF Arctic Researcher, and National Geographic Explorer.
