
Jessica Swann is an enrolled citizen of the Piscataway Conoy Tribe and a member of the Beaver Clan. She is the daughter of Tribal Chief Jesse James Swann Jr. and a direct descendant of Chief Wannas, the Tayac who first met the colonists on the shores of Maryland. Deeply committed to her community, Jessica serves as the Community Outreach Coordinator for Through Piscataway Eyes (TPE) Inc., the tribally designated nonprofit focused on cultural preservation, direct aid, and community investments. She is also a council candidate for the restored government of the Piscataway Conoy Tribe, advocating for initiatives that strengthen tribal sovereignty, cultural revitalization, and economic development.
Beyond her work in tribal affairs, Jessica is a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry, serving as a Food and Beverage Director for one of the nation’s most successful high-dining restaurant companies. Her lifelong passion for culinary arts is rooted in her early experiences hunting, fishing, and foraging with her family. This foundation in the culinary has shaped a holistic approach to cuisine, blending Indigenous traditions with the contemporary culinary practices she has encountered in the hospitality industry. Now, she is dedicated to leveraging her knowledge and experience to benefit her tribal community, fostering cultural awareness, economic opportunities, and tribal education.
