Dana Hedgpeth is a Native American journalist at The Washington Post for 25 years. She’s an enrolled member of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe of N.C. At The Post, she’s covered a range of topics, including Native American history, Pentagon spending, the defense industry, the D.C. Metro’s rail and bus systems, local governments, and courts.
She is a Gerald Loeb/UCLA Anderson award winner, receiving the honor for distinguished financial journalism for articles on national security and government contracting. The work was also nominated for a 2008 Pulitzer Prize.
