In The Calling, Cory Ransom is a third-year medical student from New Jersey. Driven by a life-threatening childhood episode requiring multiple brain surgeries, Cory became interested in the field of pediatric neurology. She earned an undergraduate degree in neurobiology at Harvard University. During her time at Einstein, Cory has served as Vice President of the university’s chapter of the Student National Medical Association, a group focused on the needs and concerns of Black medical students. She has taken on leadership roles at the Institute for Family Medicine’s student-run Einstein Community Health Outreach (ECHO) Free Clinic for uninsured patients. As a third-year medical student, she is immersed in some of her most comprehensive hands-on clinical experiences to date. This includes caring for pregnant women during her OB/GYN rotation at a time when the racial disparity in maternal outcomes is finally coming to light and working with pediatric neurology patients for the first time. UPDATE: On March 15, 2024, Cory matched to her desired hospital, Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx NY, where she’ll begin a residency in child neurology in the fall.
