Having built a colorful queer life in Iowa, an aspiring costume designer visits their island homeland of Guam to make costumes for a children’s theatre while reconnecting with distanced parents.
Hao Zhou is a filmmaker originally from southwest China, currently based in Ohio. Exploring queer themes and overlooked spaces, Zhou’s films have been screened at the Berlinale, Locarno, Rotterdam, and SXSW among other festivals. Select works include The Night (2014), Frozen Out (2021), Wouldn’t Make It Any Other Way (2024), and Like What Would Sorrow Look (2024).
