Contee III, his officers, Daniel Hodges and Christina Laury, photographer Mel D. Cole and Congressional staffer Erica Loewe. Their interwoven experiences share an unflinching account of how race, service and truth defined that pivotal day. The film is a powerful and hopeful call to action, reminding us that the fate of democracy is in all our hands.

Co-director, The Sixth

Sean Fine and his wife Andrea Nix Fine are Oscar®, Emmy® and Peabody® award-winning filmmakers whose raw, intimate storytelling style has been hailed by critics as “visually ravishing” and “enormously spirit-raising.” In 2021, the Fines transformed their production company, Fine Films, into the impact studio, Change Content, to scale the production of unforgettable true stories that upend the way viewers think about critical issues. The Sixth was made in collaboration with A24 about the January 6th insurrection that weaves six individual experiences that collectively define why we fight for democracy and what’s at stake when it is challenged. The Fines’ previous films include their Oscar-winning short documentary, Inocente, a coming-of-age story about a 15-year-old Latina artist experiencing homelessness; LFG, their HBO Max documentary, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was instrumental in the USWNT achieving equal pay; Life According to Sam, their HBO documentary feature which was Oscars-shortlisted for Best Documentary and honored with a Peabody and Emmy Award; and their Oscar nominated doc War/Dance, about three children living in Northern Uganda’s war zone competing in their country’s national music and dance festival. They are currently in production on a limited doc series for HBO.
