A global love letter to nature, SUPER NATURE is an immersive exploration of our world today, filmed entirely on the original home movie format, Super 8. Led by filmmaker Ed Sayers, the film unfolds as a collective portrait of humanity’s relationship with the natural world, inviting viewers into moments of wonder, intimacy, and reflection across landscapes both familiar and remote.

Working with collaborators around the globe, Sayers assembles a mosaic of images captured on Super 8 film—glimpses of wildlife, changing environments, and everyday encounters between people and the ecosystems they inhabit. The grain and texture of the analog format lend the images a personal, almost tactile quality, recalling the warmth and immediacy of family home movies while revealing the fragile beauty of the natural world.

Rather than presenting statistics or dire warnings, SUPER NATURE focuses on feeling and connection. Through quiet observation and lyrical imagery, the film celebrates the many ways people experience nature—as a source of beauty, abundance, memory, and loss. Embracing all we have, and all we have to lose, SUPER NATURE invites us to look more closely, reconnect with the living world, and imagine a more attentive relationship with the planet we share.

Director, Super Nature

Ed Sayers’s first short film, GOLDFISH, featuring Michael Fassbender, is a quirky relationship drama involving two humans and two fish, with wildlife playfully foregrounded. His background is in directing and producing commercials and music videos, including widely viewed projects such as producing T-Mobile’s “Dance” and directing lockdown shows over Zoom for Take That and others.

In 1999, he founded the Super 8 filmmaking competition straight 8, which holds premieres at the Cannes Film Festival and BFI IMAX and has since grown into a global community. SUPER NATURE is his debut feature film.
