Set in the largest wilderness on Earth, LISTEN is a short documentary that follows Alaskan author Hank Lentfer as he records the vanishing sounds of the natural world while caring for his mother with dementia. A sensory immersion, the film dissolves the boundaries between us and the more-than-human world.

Director, Listen

Taliesin Black-Brown was born in Vermont to a performance artist and a compost engineer. His early years were shaped by a close connection to the natural world and a strong sense of community. As a teenager, he underwent a long recovery from bone cancer, including twenty surgeries and the removal of his left hip and pelvis. During that time, he began flying cameras on drones as a way to re-experience the world in motion. That practice evolved into filmmaking.

Taliesin is a filmmaker drawn to stories of connection, with work that favors immersion over explanation. His latest film, LISTEN, produced by Academy Award winner Sam Davis, is set to premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
