Daniel didn’t hear his 16-year-old son, Chris, slip out of the house that early morning. He didn’t know what drew him onto a bridge over the Vistula River in Warsaw—only that it was the last place he was seen. A rotating CCTV camera captured him there, and then, between turns, he vanished, leaving two possibilities: that he plunged into the river, or made it off the bridge unseen. Since that moment, Daniel and his wife, Agnieszka, have lived suspended between desperate hope and paralyzing fear.

Unable to wait passively for a breakthrough in the police investigation, Daniel builds a custom boat outfitted with cameras and drones, determined to search the river’s murky depths himself. This marks the beginning of an all-consuming quest. Day after day, he returns to the Vistula, developing new tools and techniques in his relentless pursuit. Soon, other families—caught in a similar limbo and searching for answers—begin to reach out.

The long, solitary hours on the water become a reckoning, pushing Daniel to reexamine the life he lived before Chris disappeared. As months pass and the weight of uncertainty deepens, he grapples with the tension between the impulse to keep searching and the painful reality of a home reshaped by the possibility of irreversible loss.
