Ben Selkow, p.g.a., is an Emmy®-nominated producer, director, EP, and showrunner passionate about innovative storytelling, unearthing new worlds, social justice, and amplifying powerful voices from the margins. He’s best known for his work on three recent HBO projects: The Emmy®-nominated Being Mary Tyler Moore (SXSW, 2023), Q: Into the Storm, and The Invisible Pilot, as well as Rapture (Netflix, SXSW 2018), Parts Unknown: Anthony Bourdain (CNN), and Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller (Nat Geo). Additional Credits include: co-creating and executive producing the 10-part Participant Media docu-series Welcome to Fairfax, producing the environmental thriller documentary Death by a Thousand Cuts (Participant Media/Topic), which premiered at Hot Docs, won the Grand Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival, and the Audience Award at DOC NYC; series directing Believer with Reza Aslan (CNN); directing the feature documentary about PTSD Buried Above Ground (PBS/America ReFramed); producing Prayer for a Perfect Season (HBO Sports); The Carrier (PBS/Tribeca Film Festival 2011); and directing Summer in the Cage (Sundance Channel), his first film. An Honors graduate of Wesleyan University’s Film Studies and African-American Studies department, Ben is also a member of the PGA, the Television Academy’s Documentary Programming Branch, and Rosalynn Carter Mental Health Journalism Fellow.
