Set in a remote fishing village on the coast of Downeast Maine, BUCKS HARBOR immerses us in a community where life is governed by the rhythms of the ocean and the demands of hard physical labor. Through the lives of several fishermen—young men just beginning to inherit the trade and older men shaped by decades on the water—the film examines how work, family legacy, and expectations of masculinity become deeply intertwined. As stories of sacrifice, addiction, regret, and resilience surface, a portrait emerges of a place where the promise of another life often feels just beyond reach. With striking observational intimacy and a vivid sense of place, BUCKS HARBOR reveals both the beauty and the burden of a livelihood tethered to the sea, tracing the emotional undercurrents beneath a tradition built to endure.
