What does it mean to feel seen by others before you are ready to see yourself? Drew returns to 1997 to revisit a dreamlike second-grade memory shaped by her emerging queer identity, a legendary P.E. teacher, and a mysterious giant plastic fish.

Director, Big Bass

Drew Dickler (she/her) is a documentary filmmaker and producer based in Brooklyn. Her work explores identity, resilience, and social justice. She is the lead producer of WHAT WILL I BECOME?, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Amnesty International Film Award. In 2022, she was selected for the Sundance Institute Producers Intensive for her work on the film.

Her first feature, FIREBOYS, streamed on HBO and was selected for the American Film Showcase. Her personal narrative short BIG BASS has screened at more than 30 festivals worldwide, winning multiple jury and audience awards, including honors at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, the Cleveland International Film Festival, and Wicked Queer. She is the co-founder of Deep Dive Films.
