TO BE KNOWN (FOR) considers the strange and lasting ways a life becomes remembered—through accident, authorship, or the traces we leave behind. These films ask what it means to be known for something: a moment of absurd fate, words that changed history but were spoken by another, or an archive assembled in defiance of erasure. Taken together, they examine the fragile relationship between identity and legacy, and the uneasy truth that what defines us publicly is not always what defines us privately. In the space between public memory and personal truth, these works reveal the complicated ways we are seen, credited, and remembered.
