Multi-Hyphenate:

A Masterclass

By choice or circumstance, today’s creators increasingly wear multiple hats — serving as directors, producers, writers, editors, fundraisers (and sometimes even funders), impact strategists, and creative collaborators, often simultaneously.

In this master class, two multi-hyphenate creators reflect on the realities of building and sustaining a creative career over time in a rapidly changing industry. The conversation will explore how artists move between roles across projects and phases of production, balancing creative, logistical, and entrepreneurial demands while continuing to evolve across decades of work. The discussion will also consider moving between shorts and features, documentary and fiction, and different modes of storytelling while adapting to changing funding models, technologies, audiences, and distribution landscapes.

Grounded largely in documentary practice yet extending beyond it, the session offers an intimate look at artistic longevity, reinvention, collaboration, and the sustaining of a life in storytelling across forms and industries.
